Trail Description
About this trail
This is a great trial for a long uphill endurance. The parking lot is right off of Taft Hill Rd, when you park you have about a 0.4 mile flat ride till you get to the base of the foothills. The climb begins there, uphill for another 1 mile or so. Then you will treverse across the first range of hills to an entrance to the next range. That is where the fun begins. It is straight up hill for another 4 miles or so, winding back and forth across the foothill. When you reach the top of the mountain you can see all of Fort Collins & Loveland, if you look west you see a beautiful valley.

I believe you can continue along the top of the mountain but I have yet to venture that. If you do please give me your feedback.

The ride back down is amazing, not too technical but a good downhill ride for about 4 miles.

Have fun.

Jim

Review: A good mix of technical and climbing. Definitely connect with the Devils Backbone trail.

Review: Great ride, good mix of technical stuff. I wasn't prepared for the elevation and the climbing kicked my butt

Review: Coyote Ridge starts lamely, with a mile climb up a gravel road. But it gets much better! After that there is a mix of single and doubletrack with a wide range of difficulties and obstacles.

For me this is a quick go-to ride near where I live with moderate aerobic and technical challenges, and connections to much larger trail systems.

Review: The first section is a boring gravel road, but serves as a good warm up. Once you get to the hogback, the fun starts. The trail from there is probably 90-95% ridable with some steep stairstep sections that are pretty mandatory hike-a-bike, may be able to ride down, but would need some serious trials skills to ride up. Not super long (7 mi) unless you connect up to Blue Sky or Indian Paintbrush or Devil's Backbone. No dogs allowed which is a bummer...

Review: I rode coyote ridge to blue sky. The beginning is a great endurence trail thats not for the faint of heart. The small rocks along this bit are a good warm up for the later technical bits. These later parts are mostly fist sized loose rocks and slanted track. Although I had to redo some parts, I was able to complete it. Then you reach the second ridge, where you can enjoy awesome view of fort collins. Next is the worst part of the ride, which is about 20 steps that you have to walk over. But this leads to rolling hills and swooping single track. I didnt encounter many people, but I had to dismount for the couple that I did. Other wise an awesome ride.

Review: Had a nice Halloween day ride - 70 degree temps and hardly anyone on the trail. It varies between smooth and rocky, up and down. Great views. There are some steps that you'll need to hike-a-bike. I went CW on the lollipop loop. My neighbor confirmed that this is the best way to go.

Review: Fun trail close to home. Lots of loose fist size rocks and it can get busy at times. Good mix of technical riding and single track riding. Connects to Blue Sky and many other trails in the area.

Review: Rode this trail today, my last in CO for a while :(. It offers a ride variety of awesome riding conditions. It boasts steep climbs, tricky rock gardens, slickrock, and smooth flowy downhill. There are some beautiful sections of smooth flowing singletrack out here. The several vantage points offer neat views of the foothills. The only drawback appears to be the crowds during certain times of day.

Review: The Coyote Ridge Open Space provides access to some great, nearly year-round riding. The initial slog up the dirt road isn't much fun, but by the time you hit the rimrock trail, you're on nice, sometimes technical singletrack. The climbs up the hogbacks are short but steep and provide a decent workout. After reaching the end of Rimrock, you can connect to Blue Sky and Devil's backbone for some epic distance.
