Trail Description
About this trail
This trail can be ridden either direction but is best from east to west. It is consistently rocky either direction and there's more hike-a-bike east to west, but those spots are short rather than the long rideable uphill slogs going west to east. The eastern trailhead is also much higher in elevation. The drawback there is that it is much harder to reach the eastern trailhead. The trial can be done as an out-and-back, or as a loop incorporating a lot of dirt road and other area trails, including Buffehr Creek and the North Trail.

Review: This trail scores very high on the remote and beautiful scale, but not quite as high on the ridability scale. There are constant rocks, often at insane grades (although the steepest grades are short). There is also a good deal of route finding required (especially if riding from east to west, the preferred direction). The lake is gorgeous and isolated, but hard to reach from either side. All in all, this is a good adventure ride, especially if you don't mind dismounting once in a while. It does make an excellent leg in a mega loop from Vail.
