About this trail
The Trails at The Beach were created by the Southside Mountain Bike Association led by Jim Huff and Terry Tuck. In less that one year, eight miles of single/double track trails have been installed. These trails are well-maintained. The trails are rated by color-trail signs. These trails have something for every different skill-level mountain biker. Review: UPDATE. Completed a few more connector trails. Thanks to Cameron for posting a map on his last review. Working on make shift signs and arrows now, should be up in near future. Great biking / hiking trail if you live close by.

Review: ***Updated Trail Map as of December 2nd, 2016. Look in the trail gallery to find it or download it from https://www.dropbox.com/s/m8mf1kc1p22rdqi/Trails_at_the_Beach_Map.jpg?dl=0 *** Since my last review in January of this year, the paved trail has been completed and the mountain bike trails were scattered and chopped up. Almost a month ago, I arrived to find that someone had built connector trails to connect the remaining ones. This has breathed new life into this trail and allows for longer rides on dirt without having to hit the pavement. Someone has also been keeping up with cleaning the trails and cutting fallen trees. Thank you to whoever has been doing these things! Unfortunately, even with the connectors, there are only 3.3 miles of dirt trails. Thankfully they are bidirectional so you can technically get 6.6 unique miles in if you do it all in reverse. Add in the 1.8 mile paved trail and making 10 miles in a day isn't too hard to do.

Review: Good News I'm not sure who to thank but someone is cutting new trails at the beach since many got bulldozed for the paved paths. The majority of the new trails are switchbacks on the west side of the northern lake. they are a little bumpy right now, They could really use some riders to ride and smooth them out.

Review: Trails are getting better. Able to get onto new cut-thrus & turn around without dismounting.

Review: Construction of paved trails (assumed) makes the trail discontinuous. This is an OK trail for a short anaerobic ride and for improving bike skills. Some dead ends where the construction has cut across the trail. Expect to dismount to turn around. Lots of roots. Some very steep places. I would not recommend riding here if a another trail is an option.

Review: This is my local trail and the one I learned to love mountain biking on; that's why I was sad when I showed up to clean up some of the trails today and almost 1/4 of them were demolished... They are currently cutting down trees for a paved path (or at least that's what I heard) right through the middle of the trails. In the main section, half of the trails are completely gone and on the other side they haven't started, but I can see the markings that will at least run through a lot of the trails. If you do want to ride, THERE ARE TWO TRAILS TO THE LEFT OF THE MAIN ENTRANCE IN THE WOODS and THERE IS A SHORT TRAIL RUNNING ALONG THE SIDE OF CRANE ROAD NEXT TO THE TENNIS COURTS. It doesn't look like they will be ruined. I want to get out there and clean them up some so we have something at least... RIP Trails at the Beach... you weren't great, but you were ours...

Review: This is the worst trail system I've ever been to. I suppose something has to be worst right? Signage is awful. Trails cross themselves everywhere (like Yellow river). Very limited number of miles. We rode a whole 6 miles and found ourselves on the same sections multiple times. Nothing is remotely challenging here and many of the 'trails' were very overgrown. The only reason we ended up here was because Dauset was closed for a race and we didn't have the time to go elsewhere.

Similar Trail: Anyplace is better than here. Really.

Review: There is a trail head at the right side of the tennis parking lot also if the gravel lot is full, mostly single track. There's a good warm up loop that goes around the park and lots of trails within it. I wish Clayton County would take advantage of the CC water company land, they could build a huge and diverse trail system in there* Review edited 4/6/2012
